4 quarts apple cider 1 cup brown sugar 6 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate 6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate 6 cloves 6 allspice berries (if you do not have this, just put a bit extra in of the other spices) 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg 3 cinnamon sticks Tie all the whole spices together in a piece of muslin cloth for easier clean up or use a large diffuser. Add the spices to the other ingredients in a large pan or crock-pot and heat, stirring occasionally. Serve hot in your favorite hand-warming mugs!
This recipe is very flexible giving good results too! Use orange juice if you do not have concentrate; squeeze some lemons in if you do not have frozen lemonade. This is my preference too – I add a little honey to compensate for the sugar that would be found in the concentrate. Put some peel in too. As for the cider, you may use cider, but good quality fresh apple juice is excellent too; I do not think most could tell a difference. If you do not have whole spices, use ground … you will have a nicer, clearer tea with whole spices though. As always, enjoy! God gave us taste buds for this! Cindyann
